I am the Geospatial Science Lead at the Satellite Applications Catapult, UK, where I lead research activities. In parallel, I am a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Oxford, responsible for the ‘Remote Sensing of the Environment’ course at the School of Geography and Environment, and an Associate Research Fellow at the UK Centre for Greening Finance and Investment (CGFI). I am a member of various scientific committees and Centres for Doctoral Training steering boards.

Before moving to the UK, I was a Research Scientist with the German Aerospace Center (DLR), where I developed novel algorithms for Earth observation missions. I hold a a Ph.D. degree in remote sensing technology from the Technical University of Munich, Germany, and a B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in telecommunication engineering from the Polytechnic of Milan, Italy.

My research interests are focused on remote sensing for sustainability applications. I have been supervising several data science PhD students. I have authored or co-authored more than 90 publications in international journals, conferences, and book chapters.
